Monday AM Rambings

I get that people believe that the man (or woman) upstairs doesn’t heap on you what you can’t handle but this is ridiculous. My friend Marty, who is battling stage 4 bone cancer, just had a stroke. You won’t find a kinder, sweeter guy than Marty.  Please keep him and his family in your thoughts.

While most people will point toward the onside kick as the turning point of the Super Bowl, I think it was when the Saints went for it on 4th down late in the half.  I was screaming at the TV, “take the points!” In hindsight, that would have made it a 10-6 game with Peyton getting the ball back in decent shape.  Pinning the Colts deep after the 4th down forced them to play conservative. Down 10-3 at half is a lot better than being down 17-6.  Do you follow?  As it turned out, the Saints got the ball back and put 3 on the board.  Sometimes things just work out.

I’m happy for Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams.  The longtime Titans assistant coach always treated me fair during his time here.  He worked hard to get where he is.  It’s good to know that an old fashioned work ethic is rewarded from time to time.

Any Super Bowl commercials leave an impression on you?  I was not wowed.

I was waiting for Pete Townsend to smash his guitar at the end.  I mean that’s his signature move!

Lynley makes the best Turkey chili.  We had some friends over for the game and thought there might be some chili left over for “breakfast” today.  Nope.

We painted some trim in the house over the weekend.  Stunning how one man can get more paint on himself, the floor and glass than the trim itself.  I may have to hide my hands on the anchor desk today because I STILL have paint on my hands and arms.

I will be more inspired tomorrow.

Pete smashing his guitar would have been “the bomb”. I did enjoy the half time show. Kevin was playing his air guitar in front of our guests. The local reviews on the show were not so kind. I then realized that the journalist is only in his/her late 20’s early 30’s. Enough said. Good show. Class act. I only hope that I have that much energy at 66 like Pete and his band. I flicked my bic for an encore but it didn’t happen.
Painting is good therapy no matter how much paint you get on yourself. You can see the results instantly and everything looks fresh and smells like new.
May I recommend some great hand products from Bath and Body that would rid them of the paint but leave your hands soft? lol
Sure I am disappointed that my Colts lost but that is not focus of my Super Bowl gathering. I honestly enjoy having friends over and the Super Bowl gave me the excuse to visit with some of the best friends around.

I am very sorry about your friend. It hits really close to home right now with my dad in such bad shape.
I like your blog. I started one a while back but you have inspired me to get back at it. Thanks for that John.
The Bible does not say God will only give you what you can handle. People get confused about that. They mix up that “saying” with what The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” It is about temptation and the last part about standing up under it has been turned around to God only giving you what you can bear. I know first hand God does not let happen just what you can bear. But I also know He is faithful and I have run for cover to Him many times.
    Peace to you John.
