Yeah Butt… (and a few other things)
So I’m headed out I-40 East this morning and veering over to the Hermitage exit when the car driver in front of me flicks a cigarette butt out her window that bounces off the hood of my car. On a scale of 1-10 the butt flicker habit by smokers registers about a 12.5 with me. You wanna smoke, knock yourself out, but when your habit ends up nearly in my backseat, that’s when you’ve crossed the line.
I have never understood why this “habit” is so okay with smokers. Would the same person throw a fast-food wrapper out the window? I recall when I was in single-digits in the 70’s my mother (a smoker for more than 60-years until quitting a few years ago) would create a haze in the car and always put out her cigarette in the ashtray, then empty it when we went to the car wash. Do today’s smokers think that their ashtray is too good for their butts so they deposit them on area roads?
How do we solve this or is there even a way? I have often been tempted while stopped at a light, to get out of the car and pick up the butt and tell the driver in front of me, “Hey, you dropped something. I believe this is yours” but I would probably have my face re-arranged and I happen to need my face, in it’s proper proportion, to make a living.
I’ve said my peace.
This is my last day of posting this week since I’m off Thursday and Friday. Bob Mueller is kind enough to come back from vacation early so that I can go on a father-son trip. THAT’S why I’ve had a bounce in my step the last couple of days. I will reveal the trip later and should have some cool pictures to share. Here’s an oldie but goodie from my archives.

Me and Dad. 2008 Country Music Marathon. We ran a combined 26-miles, 285-yards!
Any cool father-son or mother-daughter or father-daughter or… you get the idea…. any great trips to share? If you are reading this on FaceBook, please go to www.dwyerwire.com and click on comments and share your story.
I’ll be back this evening with a News-2 at 10 preview.

My Mom and I took an Alaska Cruise several years ago. It was a great week with just the two of us. It also gave my Dad an excuse not to go since he’s not a big fan of traveling.
Have a great time with your Dad!
